Donald Trump's 2020 budget includes $100 million for a project created and led by his daughter, Ivanka Trump, named the Women's Global Development and Prosperity Initiative. (I wonder how much they paid for the spiffy website.) It will give $50 million to 50 million women in the developing world.

Do we have a math problem here? How is $1 per woman going to help empower anyone?

What exactly qualifies Ivanka Trump for this position? What does she know about women entrepreneurship in countries where working mothers don't have multiple nannies like she does?

I do not want my tax dollars going to any federally funded position led by a child of Donald Trump. Not a single one of them has been proven to have the experience or skill set to lead anything. It's pure nepotism and like everything Trump, just another branding exercise.

good global prosperity example. She was granted more Chinese trademarks (15 in Nov 2018 and 5 more on Jan 21, 2019). These trademarks include semi-conductors and voting machines.
And, Cindy Yang, in addition to those rub and tug therapy spas, operates with her husband, an investment business called GY US Investments, that sells her Chinese clients access to the Trump family. Cindy's website displays photos of Miss Yang and clients hobnobbing and mingling with Trump family at Mar a Lago events. Chinese "businessmen" fly over from China to meet and greet and, do business.

are at heart, small time grifters. tRump university? That is one of the oldest cons in the book. His foundation was a two-bit slush fund that would have indeed landed a poorer man in Rikers.

He fkng paid his son's boy scout fee out of charity funds, it doesn't get much smaller than that.

At least Madoff put some thought into his scam.

The other day I heard something I had forgotten about from the Trump of the 80s. Talking about small time.

SPY magazine, Trumps nemesis, ran this gag where they mailed increasingly small checks to very rich people and reported on who cashed them. I think it started at 15.00 and almost all cashed them. Then 10,5,1 with the number of cashed checks dropping with each reduction.

Trump was the only one who cashed the 50 cent check.

Spy correspondent Julius Lowenthal wanted to know just how cheap some of the city's richest figures were. So he set up a company, called the National Refund Clearinghouse, and sent letters with checks for $1.11 enclosed, "for services that you were overcharged for." The letters went out to 58 "well-known, well-heeled Americans," 26 of whom promptly cashed them. Curious as to how low they might go, Lowenthal sent those 26 "nabobs" a second refund check, for $0.64. This time, 13 people cashed them.
Finally, he sent those 13 respondents a check for $0.13. This time, only two people cashed the check. One was an arms dealer. The other was Donald Trump, whom the magazine identified as a "demibillionaire casino operator and adulturer."

It was a long time ago. SPY magazine was everything.

money is going to any of those women. It's just another gifting opportunity. By the time it is audited, all the money would have ended up in Ivanka's pocket.

We don't know that for sure. ;-)
But I have to admit, given some of the pictures and videos I have seen with his interactions with her, even when she was a young teen, the "ick" factor was definitely there.

To use in asking that we talk a step back from the abyss we have been staring into for so long it's no longer weird that the president, of the United States, has said that abought his daughter and here we are.
Imagine if Obama or Clinton or either Bush for that matter had said that, just THAT ONE THING, about his daughter.
Sometimes it's good to at least try to maintain some degree of perspective.
What ever "normal" we may ever arrive at in the future it won't be anything what looked like normal before.
I'm not sure we would know normal if we saw it.

We were going to have our whole health care system redesigned by an unqualified wife of a president who got the job by nepotism, as I remember. A lot more than 100 million.

- possibly because you believed the Faux News version of the story - W.J. Clinton did not present a budget which proposed putting "more than 100 million" in the control of his wife.

Nor did any of the Clinton-era health care proposals propose skimming 50% of the budget (to a first approximation) in order to redistribute the other 50%.

Now amused, I await your proposal to eliminate nepotism in the powerful office of First Lady.

4-5 pkg. frozen chopped spinach
    2 bunches green onions
1 small chopped onion
3 heaping tablespoons chopped fresh dill
1 heaping tablespoon chopped fresh mint
5-6 eggs
    1 lb. feta cheese
2 cups whole milk ricotta
    1/2 lb. butter, melted
    1 pkg. Filo (Phyllo) dough
Let filo thaw out (if frozen) thoroughly before opening, or it will stick together.
Thaw out spinach and squeeze out all the water you can. (You can cook and chop an equivalent amount of fresh spinach, but it's a big pain and it won't taste any different.)
Chop onions and brown in some butter or olive oil. Mix the spinach in with the onions. Add some ground pepper, if you want. I sometimes add some lemon juice, too, if I have some handy.
Beat eggs; crumble feta and mix with the ricotta and eggs. Combine the onions and spinach with the mixture and mix well.

Butter a large (11in. x 15in.) baking pan. Put one leaf of filo down on the pan and butter it. Repeat until eight or ten leaves of filo have been layered, buttering between each layer.
Add the spinach mixture to the pan and fold the edges of the bottom filo layer over the top of the spinach. Repeat the filo layering on top. Cut away the excess filo from the edges. At this stage you can keep it in the refigerator until you bake it (e.g., overnight).
Bake at 350° for 45-60 min. or until golden brown. If you score the top layer of filo with a knife before baking, it will be easier to cut when you are done.
For thicker spanakopita, use a smaller pan or more filling.

In Greek, "spinach" is "spanaki" (σπανάκι).
And, of course, "pita" (πίτα) means "pie."
