Guiliani Time: A Roast, a Strikeout or Just Toast?

The Parnas documents disclosed by the House y are pretty devastating to Rudy Giuliani and by implication, to Donald Trump. They are available here.

The worst may be that it appears from released text messages between Parnas and Robert Hyde that the former Ukranian ambassador Yovanovitch, who was fired by Trump, was being physically tracked. No wonder she testified she felt she was in danger. The Ukranian Government has initiated a criminal investigation to look into this.

But wait, like any good infomercial, There's More! Lev Parnas has completely broken with Trump and Rudy, says Trump was aware of the plan to get the Ukraine government to investigate Joe and Hunter Biden, and that he's now eager to cooperate fully with the Government. [More...]

Mr. Giuliani’s effort in Ukraine hinged on convincing officials there to open investigations that would benefit Mr. Trump politically. One potential investigation would center on former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. and his son Hunter; the other would involve claims that Ukraine, and not Russia, stole Democratic emails during the 2016 presidential campaign.

Parna's lawyer is the excellent New York Criminal defense lawyer Joe Bondy, whom I've known for many years. According to Joe's Twitter Account, he and Parnas will be discussing Trump and Rudy tonight on Anderson Cooper. Last night they were on Rachel Maddow's show.

Another piece of fast moving news: Ukraine’s cyber police have launched an investigation into the reported hacking of Burisma (company Beau Biden was affiliated with).

Rudy thinks he's invincible. I think the public has almost had its fill of this kind of campaign dirty work. I won't be suprised if Rudy lands himself in a mess he can't talk his way out of.

Even if he doesn't, I think the former Mayor is Toast. Who would hire him now?

There will be part 2 of the Maddow interview tonight also.

Schiff said this morning we should expect rolling disclosure for the foreseeable future.  That more was coming.

The country needs to understand i think is that this guy, Lev, who has no cooperation agreement with SDNY did what he did at some considerable legal risk and that it's pretty clear he did that because he was literally afraid for his life.

This is being almost universally noted more or less in passing.

And then there was the ambassador who was fearing for her safety.  Clearly with reason we now see.

They we/are in danger from our president and his henchmen

This is some serious through the looking glass shi+ and none of this is really disputed.  Or even much discussed.

And there are serious discussions of dismissal.  I hope people can be made to understand this and more understand it can't be allowed to stand.

    I'm an optimist but....

Henry Hill is the Attorney General Tommy DeVito is Secretary of State and Paul Cicero is President.

I'm an optimist but it's hard to stop thinking about the fact that if we win the next election, the senate the president, almost literally the entire current government, the people currently in charge - including the majority of the senate,  will be charged with crimes.

It's hard to think about what they would, and could, do to stop that from happening.

I don't ever remember a sitting AG being pretty much universally described as a thug and and enforcer
And you know what, he totally is.  That's what I worry about.

... Lev Parnas' allegations will have to be verified, the last 48 hours have clearly been devastating for Donald Trump. But how those allegations ultimately influence and move GOP senators really depends upon the public's reaction.

There is no doubt that we are in likely the gravest constitutional crisis of out lifetimes, and whether or not our democratic institutions hold remains to be seen.

Senate Republicans in Washington still have an opportunity to show some backbone and do the right thing, rather than blindly follow "Moscow Mitch" McConnell down the rabbit hole and render Congress the equivalent of the impotent Russian Duma under the Putin regime.

    Aloha.

has thus far corroborated previous testimony and documents with his testimony and documents. However, he may, not unlike Gordon Sondland, Trump's Ambassador to the EU, be self-serving and cherry picking when it comes to certain areas.

Of particular note was the downplaying of the role and his correspondence with Rob Hyde, the Connecticut landscaping contractor/government relations firm. Republican candidate for Congress and one of the boys at the DC Trump Hotel bar.

Indeed, in response to Rachel Maddow's questions about Hyde's eery correspondence about surveillance of Ambassador Yovanovitch and getting someone to do something to her in exchange for money, was, to me, a chink in his otherwise seeming credibility. Hyde is a drinker, ignore it all. Just an old drunk is not a good defense.  And, if real, it would incriminate Lev in an even more serious way than where he finds himself at present.

Former Ambassador to Qatar, Dana Shell Smith,  has called for an investigation of the matter. Of course, there has been zilch from Pompeo or Barr. And, there is plenty reason to not let this go as the ravings of a drunk. Trump himself said in the perfect July 25 call notes, "She is going to go through some things."  Ambassador Yovanovich testified that she was told by the Director General of Foreign Service, Carol Perez, at 1:00am to get out on the next flight.  And, Ms. Perez indicated that her concerns from "down the street"  (i.e., White House). Ms. Perez should be subpoenaed.

Rob Hyde is also diminished as having been removed from Trump's Doral in Miami and involuntarily committed. So a drunk and a mental case. But, these are just the types that seem to be recruited for such jobs--they bring along deniability.

This is not the first time in the Trump saga that claims of intimidation have arisen. Stormy Daniels, when first attempting to tell her Trump story, claims that she and her toddler were confronted in a parking lot by some thug, saying "that's a beautiful little girl, it'd be a shame if something happened to her Mom."  "Leave Trump alone."

Lev Parnas has some significant issues. (none / 0) (#6)

First and foremost, he apparently owes a number of people a lot of money. All the more reason for all of us to ensure that his allegations have been first verified and confirmed, before we repeat them as though they're fact.

tranche of documents just released. CNN is picking through it.

More about the "surveillance" of the Ambassador.

More communications with Nunes' aide Harvey.

don't see how Nunes keeps escaping the heat, he was in it from the jump IMO even helping to orchestrate it.

Aside from being in the loop with Parnas he was working tRump in the WH.

But he was instructed "at the last second" not to attend the debriefing, Vindman told lawmakers, because Trump's advisers worried it might confuse the president: Trump believed at the time that Kashyap Patel, a longtime Nunes staffer who joined the White House in February and had no discernible Ukraine experience or expertise, was actually the NSC's top Ukraine expert instead of Vindman.

    shady character joins the cast
The gist seems to be that Hyde had connected with a guy named Anthony de Caluwe either at Mar-a-Lago or the D.C. Trump hotel. De Caluwe seems to be another Trump superfan, though it's not clear to me whether he's actually American.
    Make that two
At that point de Caluwe stopped responding to NBC's queries. They were then contacted by another pro-Trump Youtube personality named Karyn Turk, who said she was now representing de Caluwe to the media. Turk is also an apparent associate of Roger Stone and just last week was sentenced to a month in federal prison and subsequent house arrest for stealing her mother's social security checks. Presumably she hasn't yet reported to prison to serve her sentence.
