Welcome, Justice Jackson

The Senate today confirmed the nomination of Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson to the United States Supreme Court.

Hopefully, we will see that even one additional progressive voice on our nation's highest Court can make a difference -- on social and criminal justice and privacy issues.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) didn't wear a tie for the occasion for the confirmation vote for Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to become the first black woman on the Supreme Court -- which meant he wasn't allowed on the Senate floor and voted "no" from the cloakroom, CNN reports.

Graham was wearing a tie at a press conference earlier but apparently took it off.

Rand Paul held up the vote by 30 minutes.  He, also, did not wear a tie and voted "no" from the senate cloak room.

At the time of the vote, Sen. Paul was likely receiving his daily briefing from the Kremlin on how Russia's invasion of Ukraine is progressing.

... are clearly not at all serious about actual governance. Rather, they are right-wing performance artists and political pole dancers who know exactly what their audience wants. And there are simply too damned many of them on Capitol Hill, forever playing to the gallery at our country's long-term expense. The appallingly racist, sexist and high-handed manner in which they treated Justice-designate Jackson like a political piñata was absolutely disgraceful.

are the Godfather's of the modern GOP.  of course they would have fit in.

They might seem more genteel only because in their day you said the quiet part quietly.

Unlike today.  But the sentiment is the same.

of outing or shaming in this area.  Even the slimiest evangelist.

But Ms Lindsey has earned it.  He has slithered through the gutter and stooped low enough that all is fair.  He deserves the ugliest outing possible.

President Biden was excellent in his introductory remarks--warmly folksy and heartfelt.  Judge Jackson was gracious, engaging and thorough in her acknowledgments and thanks.  She successfully linked the past with the present.

An advancement in the quest for a more perfect union.
