Happy New Year: "Buckle Up" Edition

Happy New Year to all! It is going to be a rough ride as long as Donald Trump has a desk in the oval office. But he doesn't affect everything.

My interests have moved well beyond Donald Trump. In 2025, I'll be focusing more on news and cultural topics I find interesting or curious from outside the U.S. [More...]

I spent far more hours this past year reading news and watching international TV than that produced in this country.

Since I am still practicing law, and don't expect that to change in 2025, I may be more of an "armchair" traveler than a real-life one this year. Which is why comments here are so welcome. I learn a lot from those of you who share your real life experiences.

So onward to 2025. I wish all of you good health and happy adventures. And whether it's what you just cooked or your next trip, family issues, health issues, or what you think about our government, we're interested in reading about it.

That first half was a nightmare. They're trying to make a game of it early in the 3rd quarter, but a 34-pt. deficit is an awfully tall mountain to climb.

... an illegal aerial fireworks mishap in the Aliamanu neighborhood of Honolulu (near Pearl Harbor) led to a massive explosion and the death of at least four people, as well as serious-to-critical injuries to at least 20 others.

HPD Chief Arthur Logan warned that the death toll might well rise due to the horrific nature of some of the injuries. Illegal fireworks have become a scourge out here.

Anyone else experiencing the same in the communities?
