I have no problem with the Snow hire; the WH has every right to hire a true believer. I don't think he'll be very effective, though. He's lived his entire professional life in the hothouses of talk radio and Fox, with call screeners to make sure he never has to argue with an articulate liberal. Now he has to face Helen Thomas and David Gregory every day. He's toast. The other thing that's probably being missed here is that there are a lot of people one can imagine would do a better job of representing the WH before the press than Snow. But most likely none of them wanted the job.

kingkong posted this on Think Progress last night:
Tony Snow received his masters in Philosophy and Economics at University of Chicago. Why is this important? Because The U of C philisophy department is pretty much the birth place of neo-conservatism. Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz both went there. Strauss taught there. The major crux of Straussian political philosophy, in a very small nutshell, is that democracy created fascism in Germany (Hitler was voted into office) and that, therefore, the people can't be trusted to make the correct political desicions. The difficult, and sometimes immoral, decisions need to be made out of veiw from the public by wise men, who are fronted by a figure-head who essentially lies to them, and tells them what they want to hear. Keep that in mind, when Bush is talking about God or baseball and Tony Snow is giving us inarguable reasons for the necessity of Iran invasion.

A clean bill of health. Hey, isn't Bush past due for a physical?

He's past due for a lot... Start with a physical to rule any organic diease causes... then a psyche exam to make sure he's fit to stand trial... then as has been sugested by others here for traitors - a quick and fair show trial before standing him in front of a firing squad... then watch his legs collapse into jelly while he blubbers and cries and begs like a baby...

Come on, we all know this is but a mere prelude to the real move: replacing Dick Cheney with a fully animiatronic Brit Hume puppet.
