Report: U.S. Sent Dozens to Egypt for Interrogation

Human Rights Watch has issued a new report, The Black Hole, finding that "scores" of alleged Islamic militants have been sent to Egypt for interrogation since 1994,

.... where they have faced torture and serious mistreatment. The Egyptian government has held many of the suspects in prolonged incommunicado detention. In some cases, Egypt has refused to acknowledge the whereabouts of those persons.

According to the New York Times,

...the total number sent to Egypt since the Sept. 11 attacks could be as high as 200 people. American officials have not disputed that people have been sent to countries where detainees are subjected to extreme interrogation tactics but have denied that anyone had been sent to another country for the purpose of torture. Among other countries to which the United States has sent detainees are Jordan, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Syria.

....in a Feb. 28 annual report by the agency that concluded, "Torture and abuse of detainees by police, security forces and prison guards remained common and persistent." Human rights groups have been even harsher. The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights, a nongovernmental group, reported in May 2004 that it had uncovered 292 cases of torture between 1993 and 2003, of which 120 led to death.

That has been known for years now, but what isn't known is some were not any-kind of militant or islamic terror guys, but were in fact "right here from our good old land of freedom"...do you want to know more"? it is said that a list of over one million people are next on the list for "interrogation"...like that ideal? you may say that is a joke, but what if it becomes a fact.

This has been known for a long time. When are people here going to wake up to this nightmare we inflict on people.
