Look closely at all the medals and insignia on that old gentleman’s cap. Does he look like he just fell off the left wing turnip truck to anyone? I’ll wager he probably supports Cindy Sheehan, too.

Now that is a real Vet, God bless him.

Rev up the swift boats! Quick - the font on that cap looks like it has proportional fonts! I pronounce it officially bogus! I heard he hired Steven Spielberg to film him "winning" those medals! Yeah, and then he shot himself! I heard he's gay! Hey, is that Michael Moore in the background? Is that (cue Darth Vader music) Moveon Dot Org?!?!?! Protest Warrior is painting up megaphones with "Bulls**t Cannon" on them as we speak! Heh, Indeed! Bush wasn't fighting against bulls**t like this coward during Vietnam - he was defending us from the North Vietnamese air force over the shark-filled Gulf of Mexico! Quick, someone make little bandaids to disparage this man! ... Seriously, I can't wait until the wingnuts show us once again just how much they love the troops. Maybe someone will run him over with their pickup chanting "we don't care"...

That is pretty darn funny. Of course if you could get another vet with his hands over his eyes and another with his hands over his mouth... -C

Lemme get this straight. This old fella is in the VFW...in Idaho? So Bush goes to the reddest of red states and people in an audience that's supposed to be his crowd rewearing these? I don't know how this guy got cleared by White House staff (he must have hid the protector in his pocket until time to put it on), but this is a sign that Bush is in more trouble than he knows.

    You can't spell b-u-l-l-s-h-i-t without a Bush.

Of course if you could get another vet with his hands over his eyes and another with his hands over his mouth... . . . and have them stand next to the president, we could call it "Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil and just plain evil." With apologies to Bob Dole.

Real combat vets have known all along that the right wingers are making it up as they go along...and that when it comes to warfare, none of them has the slightest idea of what s/he is talking about. Has anybody noticed that when Dick Cheney spoke to the MOPH (Military Order of the Purple Heart) convention a few days ago the room was sealed off from the press and the public? Think maybe he wanted to keep the veterans' reaction a secret? Could it be, perhaps, that Mr. Cheney was concerned that the Purple Heart vets, who've shed blood for our country (and who can probably remember all the way back to last summer when old Chickenhawks and little neo-chickenhawk young repubs were giggling and high-fiving each other at the Republican National Convention by ridicuing John Kerry's bravery and heroism and sticking disrespectful little purple heart bandaids all over their dumb a*ses)might have, uh, "other priorities" than drinking Cheney's Kool-Aid and cheering for the hackneyed, manipulative bulls**t that Cheney--a serial draft dodger standing before a crowd of people who know a real coward when they see one--spouts. At last the world is changing. Time and circumstance have brought us to the threshhold of a glorious era when sunshine patriots such as Cheney, Bush, Perle, Wolfowitz, Limbaugh, O'Reilly and all of the rest who sent other people's children to die in the Iraq War, and who supported the Vietnam war as long as it was Max Cleland getting his arm and legs blown off, are unveiled as the evil war criminals George Bush enabled them to become. Hell, if some future Democratic administration decides to charge them all with war crimes, just this once I'd be willing to become a prosecutor! Terry Kindlon, Life Member, Disabled American Veterans, MOPH, Marine Corps League, VFW, etc., etc....

Guys, I'm not seeing enough character assassination here. Can I at least get Ann Coulter to call him a coward? Or maybe Sean Hannity to call him a terrorist?

Reminds me of my great uncle, a WWII vet. I never heard him discuss politics in his life before Bush. Now he rants and raves nearly as much as his grand nephew.

In the future, you may expect to see anyone attending a Bush function while wearing such devices, no matter their age or proven fealty to The State (such as that old gentleman did with his service) to be quickly grabbed and trundled off to Gitmo...or at least be pitched out of the building on his ass. The Boy Who Would Be King can suffer no such gestures...

No, 'this old fella' was at the VFW convention in SLC, not anywhere in Idaho. Bush hit there becoming here (Idaho). Exactly - hit two of the reddest states to gather more propagandized photos to show the Amerikan people are be-hind me - about 80% percent, no what those damned polls show.
