Lieberman on Hastert

(Guest Post from Big Tent Democrat)

Lieberman again reverted to his partisanship theme.

"I know some people are calling for [House Speaker Dennis] Hastert to resign, but the truth is that unless he knows what he saw and he saw something he should have acted on, he deserves to have essentially a fact-finder to come in," Lieberman said.

"The Foley case bothers people," he added. "If anyone thinks they can make this into another partisan flap, it's not. It's very real and human. The House Republican leaders and, frankly, the Democratic leadership, should not make it partisan."

the guy's a chameleon. do you remember the woody allen movie "zelig"? it was about a guy so lacking in substance, he morphed into whoever he happened to be near at the time. great movie, useless individual. remind you of anyone?

Surprise! Republicrat Lieberman - who couldn't wait to condemn Clinton for sex with a willing (if stupid) woman of 22 -- can't see what the problem could be with a Congressman soliciting underage, unwilling teenage employees in the care of Congress for sex.

What has Lieberman been smoking?Hastert knew about Foley's inappropriate behavior and did nothing. He put the partisan interest of his party ahead of the welfare of the children that he was responsible for. And according to Lieberman its those that criticize Hastert that are being partisan?

Maybe Lieberman is taking a page from the Democrat's rule book on this one. After all, if having sex with an underage page is not something to be condemned, why would sending weird or even solicitous e-mails to an underage page be something to condemn? Personally, I think they both should be condemned, but then I don't read from the Democrat's rule book.

Guys. Looks as if two things said here are false. I mean wrong. False implies lying like a rug. Wrong means innocently mistaken. First, the only e-mail brought to Hastert's attention was, at worst, "inappropriate". The family asked that it be stopped, Hastert, or somebody, talked to Foley, and it stopped. The family asked that it be kept quiet and it was. The really bad stuff was sent to a young man who was not a page any longer, and not a minor. Hastert didn't know about that stuff because whoever did was holding on to it for political purposes didn't show him. Now that you know the truth--which is in all the papers--you won't be making any more innocent errors of fact. Being familiar with this board, I will expect sneers, but I will say, again, that sneering at me doesn't change what people know and saying what people know to be false is bad tactics.

Geez, do you think he's trying to be moderate on this issue because the Democratic base has abandoned him? This issue (throwing Lieberman overboard) will come back to haunt the Dems - Remember, he should have been Vice President right now

The point is this --> Hastert is the head of the House and responsible for handling any problems or indiscretions. If what Hastert says is true, and he did not know about Foley, then he was not doing his job. Either way he is guilty. So, Lieberman is defending a guilty man. I wish I still lived in CT so I could vote for Lamont.
