David Gregory to Bush: "Why Isn't This Just an Election Tactic"

Via Susie at Suburban Guerilla:

In the past, Democrats and other critics of the war who talked about benchmarks and timetables were labeled as defeatists, defeatocrats or people who wanted to cut and run. So why shouldn’t American people conclude that this is nothing from you other than semantic, rhetorical games and all politics two weeks before an election?”

- David Gregory at today’s press conference.

    There comes a time to recognize the great, big white elephant in the room and David Gregory called it as it was. . .This is NOT a change of heart for BushCo. . .this is a grasp at a straw that is QUICKLY crumbling between his fingertips and will be fully gone in two weeks. . .Good riddance. . .you deserve what a Democratic majority is likely to give you, Decider!

    This is another case of too little too late for George W Bush.  At this point who believes anything that Bush says.  He lacks credibility and competence.

    Wait!? Politicians play politics? (none / 0) (#4)

    I can only chuckle to myself when people accuse politicians of playing politcs.

    No, nobody does that.

    Slado,
    I'm glad you are getting a "chuckle" out of the President's change in rhetoric.  You know who else probably got a chuckle from the President?  Our servicemen in Iraq.  The 20,000 Americans who were wounded in Iraq thought his lies about the WMDs were hilarious.  Lets not also forget the 2800 Americans who have died laughing knowing that the President has played politics with their lives.

    His interior light is burned out (none / 0) (#7)

    The biggest problem bush, the republicans, and their supporters have, is like the problem of the guy who drops his keys one night inside his car. But his interior light is burned out and he can't see anything inside the car.

    He can't see. So he walks down the street to the nearest streetlamp, and starts looking around on the ground under the light.

    A stranger happens by and asks him what he's doing. He says "I lost my car keys, and I'm looking for them".

    Stranger asks "Where did you lose them?" Guy says "Inside the car, but my interior light is burned out, so I'm looking out here where I can see."
    ====

    Bush, the gop, and their supporters, seem unable to understand that their problems are problems of avoidance of responsibility, and are caused by themselves. They see all problems simply as PR issues affecting them and their hold on power. Not as problems and issues of people and the country to be approached and dealt with honestly.

    "Real peole dying" seems to be just an abstract concept to them.
    The only hard reality they see as important at all is how it impacts them. Like the guy looking for his keys, they keep looking outside themselves for the answers to problems that are internal. It will never work. Anymore than denial would work for you, me, or anyone else.
