The disappearance of Natalee Holloway in Aruba was big news a couple of years ago. Obsessive media coverage provoked reasonable complaints about distorted priorities and poor judgment in television news departments. Has the public's interest been sated, or will new arrests of old suspects trigger another round of 24 hour Natalee Holloway coverage?

    some comedy reality show, "cops gone totally incompetent". the aruban authorities botched this completely the first time around, i have no reason to believe, two years later, that they've improved their style significantly.

    as a parent, i feel for the holloways. being realistic, absent some breakdown by one of these guys, it's the same old crap, newly wrapped, that failed to convince a court in 2005. the prosecution is keeping it secret, because it knows it's nothing.

    I truly fee sorry for the Holloway family but how has the Mom managed to keep this case in the news so long?
    There are MANY missing and murdered young people. WHO does she know?

    Virginal (at least Mom says so) blonde who disappears. Perfect for holiday wrapping. Although I figured a naive girl got herself into too much, with fould play ensuing, and can't imagine the impact on the family. Still, I also think the mother got to be a publicity whore and there are plenty of similar tragedies that don't involve blondes, suburbanites, or vacations in Aruba.....

    One bright spot, the new Peterson case in Chicago has not caught fire--but the victim isn't a nubile blonde.

    I agree that there is a disparate interest depending on who-----however, media whore? I'm sure you said this without thinking that mother never chose to be in this situation and would trade places with anyone who has not experienced. Every day that my daughter is okay in this dangerous world is a good day for me. And it may explain in part the interest---a parent's worst nightmare, say yes (rather than be a party pooper) and something like this happens. A movie I recommend, although the politics are questionable is a Gentle Heart re Daniel Pearl. Re Holloway, I forgive her any mistakes--no parent should have to deal with a missing child.
