Senator Dodd (D-CT) released this statement on Reid-Feingold:

Senator and Presidential candidate Chris Dodd today released the following statement responding to the announcement that the Feingold-Reid legislation would be attached to the Water Resources Development Act Reauthorization:
"We should have a straight up or down vote on Feingold-Reid - not as an amendment to a water bill or any other bill. This is the most important Senate debate since the original vote to authorize the war. This simply cannot be the occasion for hiding behind procedural tactics.
That is why I am calling on all my other colleagues running for President to state clearly where they stand on this important legislation by joining me as a co-sponsor of Feingold-Reid and stating how they would vote on the bill."

Good for Dodd. I also think that the eric endorsed candidate, John Edwards is also on-board with this.

Let's get this to a vote.

If this is where Reid thinks he can get a vote, then he should take the opportunity. I will be VERY upset if some Democrats try to claim that that the amendment isn't germane, and therefore vote no, even if they're technically correct.

I see Dodd's point but I see your point too.

I'm willing to wait to pass judgment on this.

I think Dodd is probably right, mostly because we'll get maybe a dozen Democrats who use the "non-germane" excuse. I hope Reid has a good whip count for this, and he isn't just trying to shut us up.

about this, it isn't like Iraq is magically going to become a fine and dandy place very soon and people are going to quit dying and coming back home to American soil FUBAR.
