Sopranos Final Season: Episode 84, "The Second Coming"

Episode 84 is tonight: "The Second Coming."

This week, Phil turns down Tony's offer of compromise and A.J. despairs about the world and his future. Meanwhile, Tony takes offense over an affront to Meadow.

I thought last week was the best episode of the season, and a total surprise. It's winding down rapidly.

    A boring and unentertaining... (none / 0) (#1)

...show that should have ended two seasons ago.  I suspect that the writers are burned-out and completely out of ideas since all they're giving us this season is the nursing homes, depression, therapy and antidepressants.  Lexapro, Jesus Christ, the latest mental-health scam being pushed on everyone who exhibit any kind of depressive behavior.

Here's some advice from someone who is not a doctor, unless you're deeply psychotic and have exhausted every other avenue, don't take that garbage because it will really screw up your brain.  Experimental serotonin inhibitors might work for some people, but if you're even halfway normal it will turn you into a zombie.  Life is about pain and suffering folks, so get used to it, and stop trying to escape.  Learn to enjoy the pain, it works for me.

I continue to watch this show now only out of habit, and I'm glad it's over because if they did another season, I would be so depressed I might start taking Lexapro, strike that, I'll never be that desperate.  :-)

    I've been predicting (none / 0) (#2)

a suicide attempt by AJ for weeks.  I had visions of the final episode being at the ice cream parlor after his funeral.

I'm glad that they've dealt with the issue as I think they'll move on now...which means AJ should make it through.

The scene between Tony's therapist and her therapist is bound to come back in some way...they surely didn't do it to educate us on mental problems of inmates.  I sense a showdown between Malfi and Tony is coming.

I also think Meadow's new boyfriend is still a topic to be dealt with.

Not sure they're finished with AJ (none / 0) (#3)

I think AJ will play a pivotal role in the next two episodes..but heck, the ending is open to anything right now.
I did love the shot of Tony walking into the psych ward and meeting AJ. Both of them dressed in black with the whiteness of the hospital walls serving to underscore the isolation of the father and son who are cursed with the Soprano depression.

    Bloodbath (none / 0) (#4)

The series is going to end with a bloodbath; a vicious showdown between Phil and Tony, albeit a showdown by proxy.
