Rudy As Zelig

TPM has the video of Rudy as Zelig, claiming to have experienced what the first responders of 9/11 experienced:

What an unfeeling, narcissistic boor the man is.

For reference, from the film "Zelig"

Is way less complex that Zelig. Giuliani knows that he is lying and is shameless about it. .  Zelig was more honest.

This will go around and around and around. God I hate that man

I have lived in NYC for 25 years and I hate Giuliani. I voted for Bloomberg twice, so I am no knee-jerk liberal.

    This is great.

I followed your link to TPM, BTD. The second Giuliani box quote is nothing less than Orwellian.

The Zelig clip you put up is priceless, Woody Allen is a genius and I love his taste in women, er, girls.

Giuliani has now reversed after realizing he is better politically served by praising those who gave so much of themselves responding to 9/11.

come on, Fred Thompson (none / 0) (#9)

No, I do not support a Thompson presidency, but among the ignorant Republican suburbanites he seems to be the only force to counteract Rudy.

Rudy is exactly the kind of person America's constitution was designed to keep the power from, the kind of person who has lots of public charisma yet would be a disaster to the rights of the people.

as regards the Republican nomination. It is impossible that they would nominate anyone who is capable of being a good President at this time.

Should we want to mitigate the risk and hope they choose the 'least bad', or root for the most egregious to increase the great likelihood of their defeat?

I'm agnostic and am content to just watch it unfold.

    Electability (none / 0) (#11)
by Lucidnebula on Sat Aug 11, 2007 at 08:05:17 PM EST
The reason Giuliani is the worst is that he IS "electable", and even some Democrats would vote for him because he is pro-abortion (to the extent that he thinks the federal government should fund abortion) and pro-gay right. The minimum harm candidate wold be McCain. All others, Romney, Hunter, and Thompson would be un-electable in the general election, but they may well get the nom.

It's how we end up with John Kerry (whom I admire in many ways) as our nominee.

By any standard that prevailed during most of my lifetime, Bush was not electable. Such a track record of failure and alcoholism would have put paid to any Democratic candidacy long before the first primary.

AFAIK, no one reallly has any idea about who is electable.
