Lindsay Lohan Gets One Day in Jail for Drugs, DUI

They must drink funny water in L.A. I don't get them. Paris Hilton gets 45 days for violating probation by driving with a suspended license (even though there was no alcohol involved in the probation violation and yes I know that she was put on probation for an alcohol-related reckless driving charge) while Lindsay Lohan gets 1 day in jail for all this:

She pleaded guilty to two counts of being under the influence of cocaine; no contest to two counts of driving with a blood-alcohol level above .08 percent and one count of reckless driving. Two counts of driving under the influence were dropped.

Lohan had two arrests for drunk driving, one in May, in which she crashed her car and fled the scene, and the other in July, shortly after getting out of rehab.

The D.A. says:

"She's getting what everyone else would get," Deputy District Attorney Danette Meyers said after an hourlong hearing in Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge H. Chester Horn Jr.'s courtroom.

I guess she means everyone except Paris.

To be clear, I don't think Lohan should have gotten more time, I'm complaining again that Paris Hilton got too much time.

Update: Thanks to Squeaky in the comments for adding that Nicole Richie served only 82 minutes of her four day sentence.

Awaiting the right wing moral values chorus (none / 0) (#1)

Here's the moral values crowd's big chance to denounce the First Family and VP -- and their history of driving drunk -- for causing this by setting a bad example.

    ::: crickets :::

C'mon, these prominent lying hypocrites are crumbling the foundations of society with their depravity. What will we tell the children?

Apparently, rational skepticism and being 100% correct in pointing out the glaring holes in the right wing / pro-war case was a sure sign of mental imbalance.

The moral values chorus also maintains that noticing its frequent tendency to glom onto celebrity "news" to "prove" its theories (as Ms. Lohan's absentee RW shill of a dad has emerged from the woodwork to do) is also a function of a warped and damaged imagination.

I feel perfectly fine, thanks for asking.

Nicole Richie spent just 82 minutes behind bars at the Century Regional Detention center this afternoon after she reported to serve a four-day sentence. She had pleaded no contest to driving under the influence charges.

    BARRE/MONTPELIER Times Argus August 24, 2007 --

Cell phone picture of pot leads to bust

NEWPORT -- A cell phone containing photographs of marijuana plants fell into the hands of police, who found their way to its owner and his growing operation, authorities said.

Peter Ste. Marie, 22, was charged with felony marijuana cultivation after admitting to growing about 20 plants for his use, Orleans County Deputy Sheriff Daniel Locke wrote in an affidavit.

An unidentified person found the phone and looked for pictures on it that might lead to the owner. When the person saw the marijuana plants pictured, the phone was turned over to the Sheriff's Department on Aug. 13. When police activated the phone, it showed the owner's name and the name of his business, Locke said.

The finder also told police there were pot plants growing off Stevens Mills Road, in Jay, near where the phone was found, according to Locke, who found about 30 plants growing on land owned by Ste. Marie's grandmother.

Ste. Marie, who told authorities his grandmother didn't know about the marijuana plants, pleaded not guilty to the cultivation charge Tuesday and was released on $100 bail.

There's a lesson to be learned in the case, Locke said Thursday.

"I don't think I'd be taking pictures of illegal things on my cell phone," he said.
