Congressional Results Thread

An early Senate race worth watching is Kentucky, where Democrat Bruce Lunsford is trying to knock off Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell. It's a tough road, but hopefully Lunsford can pull it off.

Warner wins Virginia Senate. In North Carolina Senate is looking good for Dem Kay Hagen. Georgia will go Chambliss but he may not make it to 50%. Martin may get a runoff.

In Florida House races, Republican incumbent Keller going down in FL-8. FL-25, the Joe Garcia race, will go down to the wire.

Shaheen wins New Hampshire Senate seat.

Hagen wins North Carolina Senate race.

Fox calls Georgia for Chambliss.

Udalls about to take Senate seats in NM and Colorado.

I think McConnell stays, but Martin pulls off the shocker of the night in Georgia, and the fight for 60 seats comes down to Minnesota (where I have no #$*@ing clue).

That was my #1 Senate race to watch tonight

Also hoping to find out how Question 1 fares where I live. Voted against it during my lunch break today (as well as for Obama/Biden and Kerry of course). People are still voting in downtown Boston.

telling us that turnout in the Portland area is running BEHIND 2004. The reason? Voters under 40 not showing up. Voters have until 8 pm PST. If they don't show up, things look bad for Jeff Merkley in the senate race.  This is not a good thing.

Ballots must be received by 8 PM on election day. Last Friday was the final day to mail your ballot. Can drop it off at any of a number of drop boxes or take them to your county election office. It just has to be in by 8 PM on election day.

The last few elections folks have been voting later and later. Nobody knows why. Maybe all the ballot measures; maybe the tough senate race and local races.

I'd ascribe it to sleep deprivation, but maybe there was something in the endless "Mitch McConnell is awesome and loves babies and flowers and old ladies and showers Kentucky with cold hard cash" ads that discombobulated me.

I expect not one iota of change in my district and I'm not in a bright red region like Cincinnati.  Columbus is a mixed bag like any urban area, trending blue but with deep red and deep blue pockets.

Fabian, do you know why in Ohio (none / 0) (#27)
by sallywally on Tue Nov 04, 2008 at 08:16:18 PM EST
Channel 10 has McCain 50, Obama 49, but the various networks have Obama ahead by like 18 or something?

It doesn't jibe with any previous polls.  Look at the regional results to see why.  I'd be surprised if deep red regions like Sin-City went blue, but less surprised if lighter blue regions went deeper blue.

    msnbc oh results

What is interesting is how close some races are and the HUGE gaps on other races.  My precinct doesn't have half the results in so...things could change.  I doubt it.

worried about that "post-partisan", reach across the aisle stuff.  The way it is going, there will not be much to reach over to, other than the gentlemen from Oklahoma. With any luck at all, the Republican party will go the way of the Whigs.
