Indiana Results: Thread Two

Update: 450,000 votes in, Hillary still at 56%. CNN's Indiana exit polls are here.

Update: 8:00 pm ET: 400,00 votes in, Hillary now at 56%. I'm back on CNN since Fox went to pundits.

Update: 350,000 votes in and Hillary is still leading 57% to 43%. Why won't they call it for Hillary? They will tell us after the commercial. I'll tell you right now: Indianapolis only partially in and Gary isn't in at all. But, neither is South Bend, and that one I think will go to Hillary.

Update: I just dumped CNN for Fox. I won't go near MSNBC. 280,000 votes in, Hillary still at 57%, Obama 43%. The CNN county map is here. Neither Indianapolis nor Gary is in yet.

Update: 7:35 pm: 230,000 votes in, Hillary at 58%. 7:25 pm: 178,000 votes, Hillary now at 57%. 150,000 votes in, still Hillary 58% to Obama's 42%.

Update: 7:19pm ET: CNN says too early to call. 132,000 votes in, Hillary now 58%, Obama 42%.

Update: 80,000 votes in, Hillary still leading 59% to 41%.

All polls are closed in Indiana. 5% of the vote is in, 59% for Hillary to 41% for Obama. 70,000 votes. Obama has lead in 3 counties, Hillary in about 20, judging from the CNN map.

Here's the link to live results from the Indiana Secretary of State.

Maps are here.

" According to early exit polls, half of Clinton's supporters in Indiana would not vote for Obama in a general election match up with Sen. John McCain, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee.

A third of Clinton voters said they would pick McCain over Obama, while 17 percent said they would not vote at all. Forty-eight percent of Clinton supporters said they would back Obama in November.

Obama got even less support from Clinton backers in North Carolina where 45 percent of Clinton supporters said they would vote for him over McCain. Thirty-eight percent of Clinton supporters said they would vote for McCain while 12 percent said they would not vote."

I've been saying this the entire primary.

Older Dems will move to McCain.  They don't see Obama as experienced enough.  He's not safe on SS and other issues that hit them.  And, well, McCain is safer to them on the national security issues.

Jewish Dems?  They are outta there.

Latinos?  Split, probably along generational lines.  The older Latinos don't trust Obama on a visceral level.

Conservative Dems?  Outta there.  Obama offers them nothing but heartburn.

Conservative Independents?  Outta there.  They'll hold their nose and go back to Republican.

Moderate Dems........iffy.  His tax program means money out of their very own pocket and that MAY sway them in the Fall.  They might talk nicer right now.  But they'll be the voters looking for an excuse to bail.  Gotta pay those gym fees, you know.

And mad, mad women?  Long memories.

The last group is the ONLY "payback" group in the bunch.

That means he doesn't believe he will do well in NC or he would have stayed there! Hillary's staying in Indiana. She knows she will win there. Have you noticed how much time Obama takes off compared to Hillary?

He took a 5 day Easter vacation, she didn't. A few weeks ago, he took the weekend off to rest because he was exhausted. She didn't. Now he's going home again? He's lazy. He really doesn't have the energy required to be President. I wonder if he'd vacation as often as Bush did during his first term?

the networks use different syntax intentionally when saying "too early" and "too close"?

I got the impression from watching other reporting results this year that "too close" meant exit polls within the MOE, or perhaps even contradictory to reported results (NH), while "too early" means the exits lean towards someone (like IN for Clinton tonight) but not by a significant enough margin to predict a winner.

With respect to IN, I think she'll outperform exits again.  Predicting Clinton by 8-10%.
