...the cajones to look Obama in the eye. No, McCain is too much like Bush. He would simply be more  thoughtless petulance. Obama was the only candidate on that stage that came off as presidential.

    McCain is the military version (5.00 / 2) (#2)
by Jjc2008 on Sat Sep 27, 2008 at 08:45:35 AM EST
of the "entitled" frat boy.  Women my age KNOW W....we met the W types and the McCain types in the 60s.  Our college, a state school, was close to an all boys private college.  Many of them were rich boys from TX.  They used to call for girls to go to their frat parties.  I went when I was a freshman.  Most of women went as freshman and outgrew them by our sophomore years.

McCain types were there too....it's an attitude.  Arrogant, looking down their noses at women, at poor working people.

Watching McCain last night was deja vu.

So sick of them....and I am sick of the "but he's a hero" banter crap.  There were a lot of heroes telling the truth back then about how we were lied into that war too.

Sigh.   This has got me all nostalgic for my youth.
One of my Aunts, long dead having died in her early 60s, LOVED Paul and he became fondly know in our family as "Paul baby" .....

He was one great actor and humanitarian.

I have never been sure of which is my favorite of the Newman/Redford Classics: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid or The Sting.

Then Paul had so many other great movies.  A class act and a cool guy.  Hope he enjoys Bolivia.

That's not enough.  Do you understand me? That is not nearly enough. Mr. Quick, I am a human being. Do you know what that means? It means I set a price on myself, a high, high price.
You may be surprised to know it..  but I've got quite a lot to give. I've got things I have been savin' up my whole life... things like love and understanding and... and jokes and good times and good cooking.  I'm prepared to be the queen of Sheba for some lucky man... or at the very least, the best wife that any man could hope for. Now, that's my human history... and it's not gonna be bought and sold... and it's certainly not gonna be given away to any passin' stranger.

All right. Then run, lady. And you keep on runnin'! Buy yourself a bus ticket and disappear. Change your name, dye your hair, get lost! And then maybe... just maybe... you're gonna be safe from me.

    myfriends virus ALERT! (5.00 / 2) (#36)
by Xclusionary Rule 4ever on Sat Sep 27, 2008 at 11:45:06 AM EST
    WARNING: SECURITY THREAT: RED ALERT:

This is to advise you to beware of the "myfriends" virus.  It destroys legitimate data and replaces it with false information.  Once exposed to the "myfriends" virus, all data following the words "my friends" becomes inaccurate.  First thought to be a worm, it is actually a dangerous trojan horse.   If it gets into Office, the highly destructive W-bush virus is released.    If allowed to take hold, the virus stays in the system for four years, possibly eight. Although the virus is incapable of sending an email, if you let it take over, you'll be living on SPAM for four more years.

While it is believed that this threat may die off on its own before four years is over, there are rumors of a much worse virus that would emerge upon the death of "myfriends" called "moosehunter".  Very little is known about moosehunter, because it makes your computer crash every time you type in a question.

    Proceed with extreme caution.

Ohio State to lose to USC before people finally admitted the conference is poor.  No other excuse or Ohio State to be in the title game the past 2 years and get TROUNCED and then still be ranked so high this year.

Now we are going to hear about Penn State being a powerhouse because Oregon State beat USC after getting whooped up by Penn State.  Argh.

about Penn State. I've been watching them and going to games since 1985, and this year is the best team since Kerry Collins et al in the 90s. It's probably better than the '86 national championship team (although probably not on defense).

Granted, OSU and Michigan are definitely fielding poor teams this year. That said, watch Penn State. Before you criticize Big 10 schedules too much, let's talk about the SEC and Troy University.

As for me, my Vols are the ones who really stink. Our defense gives up only one first down in the second half and the offense gets the ball four times inside the Auburn 40 and can't get enough yards for a field goal. This is the year Phil Fulmer will lose his job. I need a new hobby.
