    Was thinking last night as I was (5.00 / 3) (#2)

watching a CNN commercial, all the CNN hype about THE BARACK OBAMA INAUGURATION......it makes me a little nauseous.  In a separate commercial CNN makes some claims as to what they have done this past year that were astounding and added to all of America humanity, one of those things being that they took a look at what it was like to be Black in America.  Couldn't help it, I snarfed with my laugh.  They have yet to put a fine point on what it is like to be a woman in America, I doubt they did a better job with being Black in America.  Picked up my son from school though on Friday.  I took one of the puppies with me for socialization, have been all week.  The kids in my son's grade are all confident about who I am and all crowd around loving on it, asking a million questions.  Friday this little boy approaches younger than the brood, probably 1st or 2nd grade.  He asks me if my dog will bite.  I told me not at all.  He reaches down and pets her a bit, says that dogs scare him.  He quickly loses interest in the puppy though, looks up at me and says Barack Obama is my president.  Then he gets the long stare and his face becomes serene and wistful.  He is also a black child. Things in Universe have shifted, a pain for some has eased........there is some hope.  I told the little guy to give me five but I had tears in my eyes.  From the mouths of babes, very small words speaking universes and generations of truth.  CNN........pffffft

    The PBS Civil Rights special (5.00 / 3) (#3)

may be on to late for me to watch.

CNN does headlines and personalities.  If I want real history and real substance, I'd go elsewhere.  PBS is doing an Obama biography as well.  I'm not really all that interested.  Maybe a Jesse Jackson biography coupled with the civil rights movement...  I'd like that.  When I look at Obama, I see someone who doesn't seem to have stayed anywhere long enough to be part of a place or a community or a movement.

I'm glad African Americans see success and pride in Barack Obama.  That's a good thing.

Hope your puppies are doing well.  I still get lonely for canine companionship, but I really want to do it right this time.  (Don't ask me about "Marley & Me".  I doubt I could make it through either book or movie without thoroughly cussing out stupid, ignorant pet owners.  I wish "Merle's Door" had ended up on the screen instead.)

    I have never met anyone (none / 0) (#4)

who had a bad puppy to dog experience by treating the commitment as you are.  There are many kinds of good pet homes out there, and the way you are going about it is one of those.  Some people who are childless and particularly special needs childless have all sorts of time and efforts to put into rescuing a dog and that is great.  You are not one of those people.  Heck, I'm really not one right now either.  This last litter, I had people who waited from the previous litter.  They knew exactly what they wanted and waited months and months and months and then here he was.  He is the only puppy I have placed from this litter too.  This litter looks to be a serious show litter.  I have to pack them all up and take them to Montgomery to have someone much other older and more experienced help me sort this out.  There wasn't one single puppy born that I could look at and say that is a nice "pet", but I will never regret placing that puppy no matter how showring worthy he turns out to be.

    Thanks TChris,

    Nice choice:

The constitution, a noble piece of paper
With free society, a struggle but they died in vain
And now democracy is a ragtime on the corner
    Hoping for some rain
