Wouldn't It be Nice . . .

if they are right about Obama in every respect? That he is not a pol, like the rest of them? That he really does have an 11 dimensional chess strategy that will deliver every progressive dream? Wouldn't it be nice?

Maybe if we think and wish and hope and pray it might come true
Baby then there wouldn't be a single thing we couldn't do

In the meantime, just in case they are wrong, may I suggest we keep fighting for those policies, not pols, that we believe in.

Speaking for me only

"You know it seems the more we talk about it
It only makes it worse to live without it"

So perhaps they're simply telling us to stop obsessing over whether there really is an 11-dimensional strategy after all.

Personally, I'd advocate for more talk, more action.

    The danger with belief ... (5.00 / 1) (#5)

is it can take over for reason.

This is especially true when that belief is in a person.  But it can happen with ideas as well.

The best way to prevent this is to keep an open, questioning mind.

But, sadly, that's too hard for many.  They just want to believe in something or someone.  They don't want the responsibility of having their own opinions and their own ideas.

Its wonderful, stupendous, marvelous! Wait, wait. Its horrible, depressing, worse than expected, etc.etc.!  My questions: Can't it be somewhere between the two extreme emotions? Can one not be a politician with a little bit different approach...but not totally different?  I know that successful strategy requires push, continued determination, occasional hyperbole.  But, yoiks, its starting to feel like a roller coaster on the blogs these days.

You guys may think in terms of chess games. Perhaps, that is so.  To me, the movements have the characteristics of an intricate dance.  A dance with different rhythms, intricate moves, individual interpretations, and...even new, improvised moves to changing music.  Ah well.

not to put all your eggs in the 'faith in Obama' basket. If he turns out to be all those amazing things, and we have worried needlessly, we have lost nothing but some stress hormones. In case he's not, we keep the pressure on.

If reading our nagging bothers the believers, they can just click on by.

To not be totally up nor totally down does not make one a "believer" in any human practicer of the art of politics. Its all a matter of perspective, isn't it?
