Obama To Discuss Afghanistan Escalation In Nobel Speech

This should be interesting:

President Obama on Thursday will talk about his decision to send 30,000 more troops to fight the war in Afghanistan when accepting his Nobel Peace Prize. [. . ] "The president will talk about what it means to receive a Nobel Peace Prize in the wake of his Afghanistan decision," the aide said. "He will also focus on ways in which the international community can more effectively prevent needless conflict and promote peace across the globe."

(Emphasis supplied.) That reminds me of that SNL skit -- "What Were They Thinking?"

Speaking for me only

Too bad he didnt listen to you and not take it. He looks foolish now and going ther to try explain himself only compounds it.

War is Peace! Alfred Nobel was a man of explosives and armaments--but look,  his work product can blow up people, but it also can blow up sides of mountains, build tunnels and mine coal.  So too, can my war bring peace.  After all, you do need to break an egg to make an omelet.  Thank you all and good luck. The best speech ever. It will be dynamite.

...To the president of the Republic of the United State of America.

Dear  Obama and your merry band of rustic colonials,

In the 1840's a I had the misfortune to lose a battalion of Her Majesty's infantry on a retreat fron Kabul to Jalalabad at a place called Gandamak-and about a brigade of Sepoys, shouldn't forget those jolly gallant chaps.   All our women folk and children were kidnapped. All told there were about 14,000 dead at the end of the debacle.  Hope it goes better for you. My wife terrified the Afghan Gazis enough that the women were released the next summer luckily enough.

    Yours Sincerely,

    Lt. Gen. "Alphy Bey" Elphinsone

He has been gifted the Nobel Peace Prize and the world wants to know what he did to earn it, he will give us a speech on Aghanistan.

what he has done and is doing, he would refuse to accept the Nobel Peace prize. The selection committee has thoroughly disgraced the prize and process with their selection - not of obama's doing (as near as wew can tell). But that shouldn't stop obama from doing the right thing and refusing the prize. As it is, he'll be the recipient of a joke - not something he should be enamored of having.
