Cute Feel Good Video

With what's going on on health care reform, we need a feel good moment:

Thanks to Steve M., here is the video.

Awwww. All of us dads with daughters wish our little girls would throw back some boys that way . . .

Update - So Major League Baseball decided they OWN these images of fans (not players) and decided it was a good idea to have the You Tube pulled down. What a bunch of idiots. Hopefully, their phone lines will fill up with protests. Jerks.

Speaking for me only

The dad did take it really well...people wait their whole lives for a foul ball.  And my brat of a nephew has like 3 already!  grrr:)

My first ballgame was in 1967 at the old Connie Mack Stadium and I've gone to a lot - in Philly and elsewhere - since.

I have never even gotten close to getting a foul ball, no matter where I sit.  A relative once did and he (an adult) gave it to a kid, which got him on the Jumbotron.

but I'd bowl any one of 'em tall enough to ride the Cyclone over to get a foul ball:)

The closest I ever came was within a few rows...not close enough to dive.

Though if a friend goes for a ball under my foot their fingers will pay for it!:)

When time comes to get your girls (5.00 / 2) (#9)

into Little League, be grateful to girls like mine -- the first one in Little League in our town, and it was a tough battle for mom and girl alike. . . .

But with a girl with unusual upper-body strength who had starred in gymnastics but then had to withdraw from that for medical reasons, I had to think through what else of the choices available to use would give her use of that asset -- so baseball, it was.  And she still loves to play to this day . . . after recovering from the nastiness of some of the players and parents then.

And she's not even 30 yet.  That's how recent such "progress" has been, town to town to town.  So look ahead now in your town to see what needs to be done so that your girls can play what they want to play without delay, perhaps seeing if others older than yours need support now.

is a player...all sports.  Runs right with the boys her age, circles around most, and she's a skinny little thing.

Right now she's debating whether to add tackle football to the mix next year...since the boys she plays soccer/basketball/baseball with are all starting football this year.  She runs like uncle kdog, I think she'd make a helluva tailback if she so chooses. Dad already checked and she'll be allowed, no hassles...I think its great.

baseball (not softball) players in my Little League when I was 12 or something.  I just didn't want to play softball - I wanted to play baseball - and can you blame me?  Baseball gets 1000000x the media attention.  And of course the other players including my teammates were occasionally (actually that's probably an understatement) a**holes.  Teasing, being hit with the ball, etc.  Parents weren't in the dugout but as an adult now, I wouldn't give them the benefit of the doubt on that account.

I don't even recall really giving a crap about that, though!  I wanted to play baseball!

It gave me first hand experience with the politics of exclusion that really drives a lot of sports.  I wasn't really able to process that then, but it definitely informed my later college work and general POV.

First of all, do they really own that video? Really? It's not actual game play. It shows no players.

It's great publicity for baseball. and they pull it down.

I was on a blog last week discussing teams and players just like millions of people do in sports bars, in homes, and in the office everyday and some person deleted my posts just because I disagreed with their view. Can you imagine if that was the protocol in sports bars?

I believe that when you enter a stadium you give up the right to your image via the small print on the ticket stub. To take that video down was pretty petty though. But it is worse when two fans can't even participate in the time honored tradition of disagreeing on sports topics. Where is the sport in that? Heck 80% of being a fan is agreeing and disagreeing with your fellow fan.
