Primary Results

Here's Politico's map of primary results.

Christine O'Donnell wins in Delaware. The Republican party digs themselves into a grave.

In Colorado, Denver District Court Judge Will Hood ruled today third party candidate Tom Tancredo can stay on the ballot. The latest polls show Tancredo leading the Republican nominee Dan Maes. The impact: Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper will have an even easier time winning in November.

As much as I enjoy this hurting the Republican (5.00 / 0) (#1)

Party, the fact that a half of a half of the country is certifiably insane troubles me greatly.

    Easy there (5.00 / 2) (#2)

It's nowhere near half of the country.  It's still a pretty small fraction.  How many people is 53 percent of the GOP primary turnout?  Not many.

    Other possible impact... (5.00 / 1) (#3)

...if Maes fails to receive 10% of the vote, the GOP is relegated to minor party status on future ballots for the next 4 years.

    1-1-104 (22), C.R.S.

"Major political party" means any political party that at the last preceding gubernatorial election was represented on the official ballot either by political party candidates or by individual nominees and whose candidate at the last preceding gubernatorial election received at least ten percent of the total gubernatorial votes cast.

The other side of that coin, is that the ACP becomes a major party if Tanc gets over 10% of the vote (and he will).

This hurts the GOP in that they lose top billing on the ballot, it effects how their candidates get on the ballot and the ACP is going to take voters away from the GOP much more readily than from the Democrats.

    Crazy Carl Paladino... (5.00 / 1) (#7)

takes down the Brand R primary for NY gov...silly season just got sillier...the commercials should be rich.  P*ss that money away Carl...funny stuff.

Espada cashes out, Rangel will hold on, State AG is tight (please no Rice!)...low turnout.

Oh...and somebody at least ran against Peter King in a primary battle, A for effort pal.

    That Paladino is (none / 0) (#8)

really a piece of work.  Didja hear his victory speech tonight about how the "ruling class" was defeated tonight?  He's sure got a different definition of that term than I do.

I am very, very glad to, I hope, have the less spectacularly but equally disgusting Rick Lazio put away for good this time.  Ewwwww.

by nominating O'Donnell, the chances of the Senate seat going to a Republican went from 30% to 15%.

    :-D

    I think that was if (5.00 / 2) (#9)

Lamontangne also wins up in NH, and it looked like that was going to happen last I checked.  So I'd say a very good night for Dems because the monkeys have taken over the GOP funhouse.

As disturbing as a well-funded nutzo movement is, let's have it out in the open at least.  At this point I'd rather they won their primaries than lost.

Crossing my fingers that Ayotte loses too ...

O'Donnell and Our Precious Bodily Fluids (none / 0) (#11)

The new Republican candidate for Senate in Delaware has some interesting opinions on masturbation.  She's against it.

As General Jack D. Ripper said in the movie Dr. Strangelove, We must preserve our "precious bodily fluids."

    Lynch won (none / 0) (#13)

the MA 9th district congressional primary.

For anyone outside of MA wondering why they should care - he is probably going to be the next senator.

There's a very good chance he will run against Scott Brown, and win.  Just what we needed, another pro-life, pro-war Democrat.

Shame.  I think we could've done better.
