GOP Has Been Extreme For A While Now

Atrios comments on the Beltway Dem thumbsucking about the "new" Extreme Republicans (a/k/a Tea Partiers):

I'm really not on board with the "Republicans will rule one day so let's hope they're not crazy when they do" idea. First of all, Republicans... already crazy! I think the new batch of crazies are just more likely to be up front about it and less likely to be well trained in how to speak crazy in code. Second, yes Republicans might rule one day, but the existence of amateur crazy candidates makes that less likely. As for the fact that Republican voters are crazy...well, that isn't new either. What's new is they've gotten permission from their leaders (Rush, Glenn, Sarah) to stop voting for the establishment.

Amazing that this needs to be said. Do these Beltway Dems really think O'Donnell is more extreme than Inhofe or DeMint? Or Cornyn and Kyl? Really? Then again, the Beltway Dems are the same people having the vapors because Markos notes that there are similar world outlooks expressed by the foreign Taliban and the American Taliban. Dems need to be saved from these weenies.

    2 consenting adults--that's extreme.

O'Donnell wants to regulate the behavior of 1 consenting adult--that's REALLY extreme.

I bet you he agrees with O'Donnell.

I know you were writing a punchline but it is illustrative of my point as well.

they have been fairly successful at putting a "moderate" face on their extreme policies.  mostly because people are just stupid and buy the fox spin.

these new people dont care at all about moderate faces. they just blurt out all the stuff they are supposed to be dog whistling about.  its going to be an interesting season.

bleeping minds since Newt&Co, but nobody really wants to talk about that or how it is impossible at least in this universe and on this plane to put the GOP sound bytes that they campaign on together in a paper bag and come up with anything sane.  But Karl Rove is starting to get tweaky around the edges witnessing his wedge mentality politics based on insane phobic conjured issues come to full fruition and splinter the GOP like dry fire wood :)  And Michelle Malkin is tweaking on Turd Blossom now.  I sort of like this :)

Let there be no mistake: The National Republican Senatorial Committee - and I personally as the committee's chairman - strongly stand by all of our Republican nominees, including Christine O'Donnell in Delaware.

I reached out to Christine this morning, and as I have conveyed to all of our nominees, I offered her my personal congratulations and let her know that she has our support. This support includes a check for $42,000 - the maximum allowable donation that we have provided to all of our nominees - which the NRSC will send to her campaign today.

The GOP obstruction with the hope of bringing the country down on its knees, sets the tone for scaring Americans into voting in ultra right wing nut jobs.

The extremists took over the country after 9/11 and moved the country quite a bit to the right. Next wingnut dream after they got their "pearl harbor" is a depression that out classes the great depression.
