Time to Target NY Rep. Peter King

The New York Times takes a well-deserved shot at Republican Peter King. So does Marcy (Empty Wheel.) The Albany Project reports redistricting could jeopardize his seat in 2012. Let's hope so.

King is about to become Chair of the House Homeland Security Committee. He's on an anti-immigrant kick, promising legislation to arrest more undocumented residents. [More...]

It's time for him to go. I've been railing against him since a year ago when he introduced his bill to bar transfer funding for Guantanamo detainees so they could be tried in federal court. Last week, when he said he was outraged that James Cole had been appointed Deputy AG, I said, "I'm outraged and shocked that someone like Peter King is an elected representative in our government."

King is a dangerous and fanatical member of the radical right who should not be making national policy. I hope New Yorkers wake up to him and give him the boot in 2012.

unless Cuomo vetoes the redistricting legislation. In any compromise deal, King is safe.

"King's immigration proposals will include an aggressive crackdown on private companies that hire illegal aliens and increased federal support for local police to help arrest illegal immigrants"

Instead of negativity about those who are trying to enforce our present laws how about if the Democratic party simply openly and honestly runs on a platform of "open borders", which is in fact what you have if you don't enforce laws about immigration.

Come to San Diego, sonny boy, we got that there Mexico just down the holler a few minutes, and like you said it is sure crazy now that they let them Mexicans just march right across the bridge into the U.S. without even having to stop. Why so many of them still risk their lives using unscrupulous coyotes and hiking through deadly terrain, I have no idea.  Don't they know it's just so easy since the Dems opened all those borders?

There's one party in this country, my man, the corporate party, and it LOVES it lots of cheap immigrant labor. All the rest of the noise is just that, window dressing and theatre.

but this is nothing new. Think about the textile mills moving to the south for cheaper labor 100 years ago. These corporate types have always been about cheap labor.
