If you love Bill Murray (and I do), you have to love this:

The next time you instantly erase 114 minutes of your life by getting sucked, once again, into the vortex that is a cable viewing of Road House, rest assured that Bill Murray and his idiot brothers are out there somewhere, watching with you. At least that’s the story from Road House co-star Kelly Lynch, who, in a frankly awesome interview with The A.V. Club, says that Murray calls her husband, Mitch Glazer (co-writer of Murray’s 1988 Christmas Carol redux Scrooged), whenever the movie is on TV during one scene in particular:

Every time Road House is on and he or one of his idiot brothers are watching TV — and they’re always watching TV — one of them calls my husband and says [In a reasonable approximation of Carl Spackler], “Kelly’s having sex with Patrick Swayze right now. They’re doing it. He’s throwing her against the rocks.” [Away from the receiver.] What? Oh, my God. Mitch was just walking out the door to the set, and he said that Bill once called him from Russia.

about George McGovern but hospice people are wonderful.  George came to Aspen several times over the years and was good friends with Hunter.  He used to drink in the Jerome bar with all the locals.  He always remembered everybody's name in the room late into the evening.  I wasn't too good at that.  Worse now.

    We're missing him (5.00 / 1) (#16)

in our neighborhood, where we would see him walking with his grandchildren in recent years -- and he was always gracious when his many admirers would do double-takes, taken back to decades ago, and would stop to tell their stories of his campaign.

A couple of little boys soon are going to miss their gramps, I fear.  The decline has been going on for a while, with several recent rushes to the ER.

    Lyin' Ryan PHONY soup kitchen photo-op (5.00 / 1) (#10)
by shoephone on Tue Oct 16, 2012 at 12:24:45 AM EST
Just when you thought Ryan and the GOP couldn't stoop any lower.

The food had been served, the patrons were long gone, and the cutlery cleaned when Rep. Paul Ryan, his wife, three kids and photographers pulled up Saturday at a St. Vincent de Paul food kitchen in Youngstown Ohio.

Ryan and his wife put on aprons and washed several pans that already appeared to be clean, and then were off to the airport.

    ....

"We're a faith-based organization:  We are apolotical because the majority of our food is from private donations," Brian Antol told The Washington Post.  "It's strictly in our bylaws not to do it.  They showed up there and they did not have permission.  They got one of the volunteers to open up the doors.

"The photo op they did wasn't even accurate.  He did nothing.  He just came in here to get his picture taken at the dining hall.

Bill Murray used to go to Aspen (none / 0) (#1)

a lot when I lived there.  He was doing research with Hunter Thompson for the film.  It was extremely dangerous going out to HST's during those times but when they brought their drinking program to town things got downright evil.  If any of the brothers were along the evilness more than doubled.  It was fun.

We didn't get to watch Dexter and Walking Dead until tonight.  It was such a grossfest all I could eat for dinner was a peanut butter and honey sandwich.

Outlook ominous for Obama (none / 0) (#13)
by NYShooter on Tue Oct 16, 2012 at 07:37:33 AM EST
This campaign is beginning to display an overcast dread that I, and others, have felt for a while now. And, that is that Obama's support is quite fragile, tenuous at best. With only three weeks to go I sense that people have been looking for a reason to either go "all-in" for Obama, or act on another feeling, "screw it," he had his chance and he blew it.

The 1'st debate went a long way in them making up their minds. The feeling was moved along by a notion that many held, that Obama displayed an attitude of not wanting to even be there, that Romney was not even worthy of sharing the same stage with The President. The disdain that Obama felt was corroborated in a recent British article. Incredibly, Obama left the debate, certain that he had won. LINK.

And, right after the VP debate I was having some spirited arguments here with a few obviously strong Obama/Biden supporters. Their certainty that Biden had mopped up the floor with Ryan was enhanced with a lot of good humored derision. I had quite a lot of difficulty in explaining that "winning" on points was quite different than winning votes. I was almost mocked for comments that generally said, "Don't be surprised when Ryan is declared the Winner." LINK.

The bottom line is that some of us feel one way, and others, another way. What matters is what lever people pull when they get into the voting booths.  And, right now it seems like the storm clouds aren't just gathering; They`ve arrived. LINK
