NYT Endorses Hillary, Says Trump is Worst in Modern History

The New York Times today endorsed Hillary Clinton for President.

We will explain in a subsequent editorial why we believe Mr. Trump to be the worst nominee put forward by a major party in modern American history.

After giving the details of Hillary's accomplishments, life-long service and commitment to bettering the lives of Americans, and acknowledging a few personal mis-steps, it concludes:

Mrs. Clinton’s service spans both eras, and she has learned hard lessons from the three presidents she has studied up close. She has also made her own share of mistakes. She has evinced a lamentable penchant for secrecy and made a poor decision to rely on a private email server while at the State Department. That decision deserved scrutiny, and it’s had it. Now, considered alongside the real challenges that will occupy the next president, that email server, which has consumed so much of this campaign, looks like a matter for the help desk. And, viewed against those challenges, Mr. Trump shrinks to his true small-screen, reality-show proportions, as we’ll argue in detail on Monday.

Through war and recession, Americans born since 9/11 have had to grow up fast, and they deserve a grown-up president. A lifetime’s commitment to solving problems in the real world qualifies Hillary Clinton for this job, and the country should put her to work. (my emphasis.)

No rational person or credible media outlet will endorse Donald Trump. Voters may be angry at the status-quo, but they aren't suicidal and they won't be willing to bet the futures of their children and grandchildren on a carnival-barker like Donald Trump. Provided people wake up and vote, this election should be a landslide win for Hillary Clinton.

I really don't care what Donald Trump says or does, but I think he really showed his emotional immaturity today in responding to the Clinton campaign giving Mark Cuban a front row seat at the debate: He 'tweeted' he might give his most prize front row seat at the debate to Gennifer Flowers. Can you imagine a President who responds to world leaders he doesn't like with a tit for tat like he's still in the third grade?

"If dopey Mark Cuban of failed Benefactor fame wants to sit in the front row, perhaps I will put Jennifer Flowers right alongside of him!"

He later corrected the spelling to Gennifer.

In other Trump news, his hotels have agreed to pay a $50,000. penalty for a few serious data breaches that "exposed 70,000 credit card numbers and other personal information of its customers." And what will probably surprise no one: the hotels didn't warn their customers for four months. I wonder who approved that decision.

Further investigation found malware at several Trump hotels and that an attacker in 2014 had gained unauthorized access to steal sensitive information.

The high-end hotel chain, which includes the Trump Soho and Trump International in New York and properties in Chicago, Las Vegas and Waikiki, Hawaii, knew about the initial infiltration as early as June 2015, but did not warn customers for nearly four months, which the attorney general’s office said violated state laws requiring expedient notification.

is not a tit for tat.  Mrs. Clinton is not the one who had a relationship with Miss Flowers.  It would be, as if, Mrs. Clinton would tit for tat with something about or someone from  Melania's past. Both Mrs. Clinton and Trump would have been the offended parties.

If Melania had an affair with Mark Cuban (5.00 / 2) (#15)

that, and only that, would be . . . well, equivalent.

(I cannot say tit-for-tat, as I do not know whether Cuban has a ta.)

invited a former Secretary of State who though Mrs. Clinton did a terrible job as Secretary of State and who was supporting Trump.  Oh wait, that would be hard for Trump to do--there aren't any.

Clinton puts Mark Cuban in the front row, knowing it will rattle Trump. Trump puts Flowers in the front row hoping she would rattle Hillary.

It's not about who had an affair, it's about who will rattle their opponent.

with respect to what is intended, but not with respect to how it was to be accomplished.  Mark Cuban  v Gennifer Flowers: Cuban, a former supporter of Trump now a "never Trump" chides Trump on his business acumen and bankruptcies--challenging Trump's "claim to fame:"

Gennifer Flowers is a former floozy who had a liaison with Mrs. Clinton's husband 25-years ago.  The rattling seems to me to be to resurrect past difficulties in the Clinton's marriage and to attempt to humiliate Mrs. Clinton. Something a student of Roy Cohen would think to be clever.

Of course, Miss Flowers accepted this low offer from Trump.  But, it would have clearly backfired on him, so, on second thought, Trump backed off.

Pretty sanguine about the prospect of Trump as President, or do I read your remarks about not caring what he says/does incorrectly ?

    I don't think he'll be elected (5.00 / 1) (#3)

And I don't think he expects to be. It's all a charade. I hate giving him more attention than he deserves, and he deserves zero in my estimation. But I do think it's important to get out the vote, so I do write about his more ridiculous stuff.

Jennifer Flowers won't be there. She states on her blog that she won't be there, nor was she ever invited.

Trump threatened to invite her on Sunday, but didn't carry through.

Sounds like the psychological war is under way.

    Great title for a song!

"What you want, baby I got
And what you need, you know that I've got it
All I'm askin' for is a little respect
When you come home bring it to me, give it to me"

If Hill comes out, snapping her fingers, and, singing this song, Donald might as well go home,,,,,and stay there.

Time for Pretty Momma to lighten up, and.....light it up!

shows us this debate will be quite a spectacle.

Hillary cannot let Trump off the hook or look Presidential.  She needs to go right at him.  We all know how he will respond.

I completely expected it. What I'm hoping to see now is a tidal wave of newspaper endorsements for Hillary from reliably conservative Republican editorial boards such as the Chicago Tribune, the San Diego Union Tribune, the Tulsa World, etc
