Katrina and Blog Traffic

If TalkLeft's blog traffic the past ten days is typical of other left-leaning blogs, there can be no doubt that the Hurricane Katrina catastrophe is the blogger story of the year - and that the Bush Administration is in big trouble.

A surge of ordinary people viewing some of the crazed rants and virulent iconoclasm on this site will only help the Republicans in the next election. Keep it up!

Naw, the guy who's really in trouble is the Mayor of New Orleans. What's that big Republican Rush Limbaugh call him? Oh, right, Ray Nayger. (It is crucial that the wingnuts don't wake up from this particular pipe dream.)

I'll say. The traffic has trickled down my way as well. I had more traffic last week than I've had any other week since I started blogging.

I would have to agree with Jami. Your immense love for the city of New Orleans came through in your tireless postings. Other blogs have not been as focused. I also agree with you that blogs such as yours and several others will undoubtedly make a huge difference in the coming elections. I am not sure that Katrina is the only reason. Blogs are coming of age and a now big threat to business as usual. Power to the people...if only we can make sure the diebold (et.al) voting machines with no paper trail will reflect our will.

And maybe, dear grad student, those "ordinary people," who don't have a clue what "virulent iconoclasm" means, will think you're just too full of yourself. And guess what, they'll be right.

Grad Student, you've become a "chatterer" and are now limited to four comments a day on TalkLeft. See the comment rules.

ooooh, I'm crushed. Just out of curiosity, which definition of "chatterer" applies in my case? Someone who (a) posts frequently with the intent of hijacking threads, or (b) insults other commentors or frequently repeats the same point to annoy other commentors. Since I've only done (1) once (unintentionally) and never done (2), I'm curious. Then again, I've been unimpressed by the arbitrary application of the "policy" to date. Oh hey, one more thing. You made the claim that the "Bush Administration is in trouble" based on your site's stats, and I responded with my take of that situation (which you apparently didn't like - surprise). Any thoughts on the point itself, or are you just going to run for cover (again) by invoking the "policy"?

AD-"they" will all project about their own vulnerability to terror or natural disaster with a totally incompetent HS/FEMA. That "they" is the bipartisan public. It has to have a negative affect at the voters box for the republican party. Look what bloggers did in the heavily red district of Ohio during the recent election for US Representative from Ohio, 2nd District · Jean Schmidt v Paul Hackett. Hacket lost by only 3 percentage points while he should have lost by 30. link
