Sex Offenders Gunned Down, Registry Halted

Two sex offenders were gunned down in their Maine homes this weekend. The state has suspended the website that publishes offenders' pictures and addresses "as a precaution."

****Sarcasm alert! Sarcasm alert!**** Scumbags got what they deserve! I only wish I was there to pull the trigger! ****End Sarcasm Alert! End Sarcasm Alert!**** Just thought I would save the wrong-wingers the trouble of posting that themselves.

I also noticed that the idiot who murdered them turned the gun on himself. The whole situation is tragic.

This should surprise approximately nobody. I'm only surprised that it happens less often than this.

I've said it before, but these registries have become ineffective beause instead of just putting the worst of the worst (as was the original intent), judges now feel obligated to put everyone that appears before them on the registries.

This is a perfect example to illustrate your comment. A 25-year-old man convicted of stealing hundreds of pairs of underwear was sentenced on Friday to one year in jail for his second conviction of stealing panties. ... Scholfield will have to register as a sex offender because of his crimes, said Dunn County District Attorney Kris Cusick. He must also undergo sex offender treatment and pay a $2,500 fine.

Just curious, but are there registries for people convicted of crimes like murder, aggravated assault, home invasion, burglary, etc?

Joe Bob, Read my first post. It appears that burglary and home invasion are included in Wisconsin.

Wow .. he got off easy. This is his SECOND offense and he only got a year? Some people never learn. Let's hope we can stop him from graduating to more serious offense. Let's hope a 3-strike law applies here. On another note, I wonder what offense has the two commited to get it brought onto them. If they were convicted of any violent sex crime, then I think they had it coming. Well, at least the crazy shooter has the good sense of committing suicide to save tax payer some money of giving him a trial.
Narius, No surprise you are happy that two convicted sex offenders were murdered. It is outrageous that you had something idiotic to say in regards to my linked article. Scholfield's crime was burglary. Burglary is not a sex offense. As I have stated before, you are a sadist and now you have confirmed you are a troll. Talkleft, please ban this fool. He has violated your posting policy on numerous occasions and is making a mockery of your blog.

macromainic-narius is banned as a chatterer. He is limited to 4 comments a day. Unless generous beyond belief Jeralyn has changed her mind. As far as I am concerned his comments add nothing to this site. Bloodlust and vengence are all he can muster. Disgusting.

What I don't understand is why your fascination and love for criminals.
Since the point of Talkleft's postings go over your head, I would not expect you to understand why I, or others who post on this blog, take exception to certain "punishments". It is not out of a "fascination and love" for criminals. This...
On another note, I wonder what offense has the two commited to get it brought onto them. If they were convicted of any violent sex crime, then I think they had it coming.
... is irrelevent. No one in this country has the right to take justice into his or her own hands. The name for this type of justice is vigilante justice. It should not be advocated, which is what you do, or tolerated.

I am totally opposed to this 'naming and shaming' and hope that it never comes to pass in the UK. It does not serve the community in any way. Narius is seemingly beyond help. I can't fathom how he apparently reads the posts and comments on this site and still can't understand the points being made. He even contradicts himself. On this particular thread he first says
I think they had it coming
and then describes the guy who did it as a
    crazy shooter
thus proving for any of us who had any doubt that he condones insanity.

I used to think that, as you say, kdog, it's useful to have the comparison. After all, you can only recognize sanity, for example, by contrast with insanity. But I do agree with Squeaky and Macro. Narius adds nothing here except expressions of sadistic bloodlust, and though I suspect his expressions may be related to some degree to cultural and language differences in getting his point across, he appears utterly disonnected and without the capacity to understand the point of Jeralyn's posts, or for rational thought. Any mention of killing someone seems to get him quite excited.
