Two Martinis in Every Kitchen

by TChris

You know your campaign isn't going well when ...

Republican gubernatorial candidate Mark Albertini was arrested for public intoxication Thursday night in Knoxville, sheriff's officials said.

Albertini's top issues are "abortion, illegal immigration and the state pension system." Temperance must be farther down the list.

In his most recent campaign finance report, Albertini said he had raised $500
At least we know where the money went.

Just imagine if he was homeless, han the excrement would hit the fan with regards to his drinking.

It's always both fun and amusing to find holier-than-thou moralizing Republicans tripping after stepping on their own cassocks. Like the Connecticut Senate candidate Schlesinger - not only did he gamble in indian casinos under false names, but now they found the suits against him from the Atlantic City casinos. Welsh on a marker, get sued (and then a judgment in 45 days or so). Too precious, though, why he "forgot":
However, court records show that Boardwalk Regency Corp., owner of Caesar's Palace, filed a lawsuit against Schlesinger on June 12, 1989, claiming he owed $8,800. Schlesinger settled the case on May 21, 1990, by paying Caesar's $10,211, including interest. On April 23, 1993, records show, Trump's Castle filed a lawsuit claiming Schlesinger owed $13,500. He paid $18,016, including interest, to settle that case on June 8, 1994. When asked why he wouldn't remember two five-figure settlements, Schlesinger said it's because that's "not that much money to me."
    Now, he's a real Republican!

et al - You guys aren't going to condemn a little drug use, are youu? I wonder if he hit a police barrier? Or if he flipped it off a bridge and someone drowned.... no that was ....another well known political drinker..

Me Jim...never. I wonder his stance on the criminalization of just about everything. Public intoxication...one in a heap of useless laws. Was he harassing anybody? If yes, arrest him for harassment. Did he assault anybody? If yes, arrest him for assault. I mean what's next...laws against public drowsiness? I thought public intoxication was just one of those sneaky laws used to lock up the homeless or any undesirable. I didn't think cops anywhere took it seriously...until now. The NYPD can be real ball-busters over open containers...but walking around stewed still seems to be allowed up here...unless you're an undesirable.

kdog - Agreed. I just couldn't resist pointing out how hypocritical the Left is over things like this.... And I'm sure they can toss back a bunch of Repub stuff. BTW - When you going to LV? Got rooms??

I think our little lefty enclave likes to revel in the hypocrisy of the "holier than thou" crowd...I'm sure most of us are against locking people up for simply being drunk. The Dem party, on the other hand, is fine with it. These useless laws are in every municipality...D and R stronghold alike. I'm all set...leaving next Thurs. Staying at Palace Station..I'm a 30 bucks a night tops kinda guy...yet I'll bet whatever hundred I've got in front of me on a semi-bluff in a NL ring game. Gamblers are a sick breed....as you well know. The longer you don't hear my whacky views after Thurs. the better!

Ohh, I have some great memories of Palace Station when I lived in LV ... but then I was 'with the band' and not in the casino;-)

They should treat him no different than if you or I were arrested for the same. That being said how many of you have been publicly intoxicated? Just throwing that out there. :-P

Oh he!! no... Just pointing out the acceptance levels of substance abuse is directly proportional to an individuals income and/or social status. Plus, it is pleasing when one of the bad guys gets caught red-handed ;)

kdog - The PS is not bad, or at least it didn't use to be. Do me a favor and remember that ALL of Vegas is a tough place, and since the mob doesn't keep the peace anymore, tourists are considered easy pickings. Muddy - In my youth there were times when I subscribed to Dean Martin's theory: If you can hold on to the floor and not fall off, you're not drunk.

No worries Jim...I'm a man of the street. Muddy....hasn't everybody? That's the point....the criminalization of most everything in a supposed free country. Personally, I hold the right to public drunkeness to be self evident.

Kdog, good luck in the tourney, would be awesome to have ya on the final table and to have us bums trying to figure out which one is you. It is cheesy but the water show at the Belaggio is worth seeing.

how hypocritical the Left is over things like this.. And how quickly you take any opportunity to bash "The Left", despite the fact that I personally supervised it moving out from under your bed a few months ago. Oh, and if you could tell us about one such example of hypocracy on "The Left" about 'public intoxication', that would be interesting, much more so that your usual content and logic-free snark that you feel compelled to post here from time to time.

You be on a new street, in a new town. Caution and just do it. Remember - K Q off suit and AQ are the two most over rated hands in NL poker.

Thank you jlv, oscar and jim. And I will Jim...but still, no worries. The biggest threat to my roll 'round here has always been the cops. Compared to a PD, a two-bit mugger ain't squat. But thanks again for the concern.
