The Final Night: Bruce, Bon Jovi, Obamas and Hillary In Philly

Bruce Springsteen is giving an incredible speech during his live musical performance at a campaign event for Hillary tonight in Philadelphia. It's outdoors and the place is packed. From Bruce:

Trump has a "profound lack of decency.... Tomorrow that campaign is going down.

Now he's playing (for Trump): It's Gonna be a Long Walk Home. [More...]

Michelle Obama was incredible. President Obama also gave a rousing speech. Obama on Trump: His own staff doesn't trust him to manage a Twitter account, how you trust him with nuclear codes?

Hillary comes on for her final speech of this long campaign. Her voice is strong, she is energized and confident.

Bon Jovi also played (I can't believe I missed him.) The New York Times is carrying the event live here.

Chelsea and Bill each spoke. They are just so happy and proud -- rightfully so.

Bon Jovi came on stage at the end, with Chelsea's husband, to join Hillary, Bill, and the Obamas. He gave Hillary a hug and a kiss.

I hope there's a place to watch the whole event again. It really was that good.

(Update: There is --- The New York Times put it on You Tube. Bon Jovi (around 5 minutes in) reads a very long letter from a Republican who voted for Hillary. Then he does a nice acoustic version of Living on a Prayer, followed by very upbeat "Here Comes the Sun" (yes the Beatles song.) He says to think of Mrs. C. when you hear it and "Let the future be bright."

Searching for the video, I see that Bon Jovi has been performing all over since late October for Hillary. Florida, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, to name a few.

From Bruce to Bon Jovi to Beyonce, Katie Perry to Cher, Jay Z, Pharell, and so many more -- Thank you.

These stars didn't need to take time from their lives to trot around the country entertaining people while convincing them to vote. They did it because they genuinely believe the alternative to a Hillary win is too unspeakable to contemplate. They may be stars, but they are also either parents or future parents, and they want their children, and all of our children to have a future filled with promise, opportunity and optimism, not darkness and uncertainty.

Trump is the most self-aggrandizing, unqualified, inexperienced, indecent person to ever run for the Presidency. There's a reason these stars have put their hearts and souls into backing Hillary and pleading for you to vote. It's about the kind of world you want for yourselves and your children. It's about respect for our nation, our security, our economy and our personal welfare.

If you have any instinct at all for self-preservation, you will get yourself to the polls tomorrow and help Hillary Clinton bring this election home, where it belongs. This is not a year for a protest vote. Too much is at stake. This is a time to vote and be proud that you helped defeat the dangerous demagogue named Donald Trump. As Hillary said tonight, let's build bridges, not walls.

Mañana Votamos. Tomorrow we vote. We decide our future. We get the government we elect. Please make your voice heard and Vote.

    Hello, Philadelphia! (5.00 / 3) (#2)

Beautiful set-up, with the podium by the National Park visitor center, Independence Hall off to one side and the Constitution Center to the other side, which is more than a city block in each direction, and tens of thousands packing Independence Mall (the heart of the National Park) in between.

    Peter, are you at Clinton's (none / 0) (#4)

Honestly, this campaign season has drained me. (5.00 / 2) (#9)

Hillary Clinton has endured so much crap that it's been depressing to see at times. Yet she's such an amazingly resilient candidate that I get reinspired, and it was so refreshing to see such an uplifting finale in Philadelphia. Now, she's on her way to Raleigh for that last event of a long slog. Reportedly, Lady Gaga will be on hand to join her.

    Tomorrow, we vote.

    P.S.: Lady Gaga rocked NC State! (5.00 / 1) (#13)

Reportedly, the lines to get into the final Clinton rally in Raleigh with Lady Gaga and Bon Jovi was 20 blocks long. And when Hillary finally took center stage, the crowd of mostly college-age millennials erupted.

about not hating/disrespecting those who support "him."  She got lots of applause for this line. Hopeful for post-election healing....

By the way, I thought Michelle Obama gave another exceptional speech last night.

was fun to see, with the videos on social media -- as was seeing how fast word spread on social media.

I'm staying up for the midnight special rally.  After all, I'll be up late tomorrow night, too . . . even if we win NH, NC, and FL for an early night for results.  But my newborn grandson will be with us, for a post-midnight feeding.

And that visit with us is because my daughter asked if she could come be with her mom for this momentous night.  Among our fondest memories is from 2008, when she still lived nearby, so we voted in the same precinct.  That year, in the primaries, she asked me to wait until after her classes to vote together.

We walked arm in arm to the polls then.  Tomorrow night, I'll have my grandson in my arms.  I hope that HRC soon, so deservedly, gets to do the same.

who told me she was there for the second time, having gone early with her 18-year-old daughter who voted for the first time today. When they got home her 20-year-old was ready to go vote, and wanted her mother to go with her, too, for this historic occasion. The daughters are both mixed-race adoptees. Working class white parents; dad is a retired mailman. No ambiguity in who she meant they were voting for.

This morning I got a message from my best friend from High School who lives in Australia telling me that she hopes the person I voted for is elected President. We have not discussed the election at all but she knows me well enough to know whom I support.

Then my mom who knows nothing about politics/elections/the candidates except for knowing the names of the candidates told me she hopes Hillary wins. The reason...she does not want to see her daughter sad and she knows her daughter will be very upset if Hillary does not win. Thanks, mom!

been so happy and joyful. A stark contrast to the anger and hatred that pulse through Trump's rallies.

Both candidates have attacked the other. T
Neither has a good word to say about the other. Still, the differences in their supporters, the crowd energy at their respective rallies, has been markedly different.
