Charlie Sheen's opening night of his media tour in Detroit was an unmitigated disaster. Boos, catcalls, people shouting for refunds and walking out.

Charlie Sheen today filed a $100 million lawsuit against Warner Brothers and Two and a Half Men producer Chuck Lorre.

Sheen is also claiming damages on behalf of the show's cast and crew, even though his lawyers don't represent them. The show employs 200 people.

Sheen says Warner Brothers and Lorre raked in over a billion dollars from the show over its 9 seasons.

Lorre has a terrific attorney, Howard Weitzman on Los Angeles.

Los Angeles attorney Howard Weitzman, who represents Lorre, called the suit's claims "as recklessly false and unwarranted as Mr. Sheen's rantings to the media." He added the lawsuit was "about a fantasy 'lottery' payday" for Sheen.

Until tonight, I managed to avoid the Charlie Sheen Unmagical Mystery Tour, where every network is giving him prominent air time. I caught about 15 minutes of 20/20, just enough to wonder what world he's living in. He's straight now he says, and there's no drugs in the house he's living in with his "two goddesses", a p*rn star and model.

He pooh-poohed all the negative reports on his behavior, and blamed his New York hotel brouhaha on, of all things, Ambien, which he called "the devil's aspirin." He's not into pills he said, and Ambien wasn't part of his "normal blend." He chain-smoked through the interview.

As to the speculation he's bi-polar: "And then what? What's the cure? Medicine? Make me like them? Not gonna happen."

He's obviously intelligent. And oddly entertaining to watch -- in very small doses. But despite what he believes, he's really not that interesting. Or sexy. Or charismatic. As this writer says, "Finally: Charlie Sheen is bats--t crazy. And Charlie Sheen is perfectly sane." [More...]

Charlie Sheen is fighting back. Via TMZ, he has filed a lawsuit against Capri Anderson for extortion and theft. He alleges Anderson, whom he refers to a p*rn star, demanded a million dollars not to go on national TV with her claims of what happened in a NY hotel room a few weeks ago. Sheen also says she threatened to try an have his probation revoked if he didn't pay. The demands were made by her lawyer. You can read the colorful complaint here.

Sheen says Anderson is a liar, and she admitted to police and others he acted like the perfect gentleman. He says she's a long time p*rn star in LA and had money troubles, so she moved to NY to become an escort (and, according to Sheen, a hooker.) [More...]

Did Charlie Sheen violate his probation last night when taken from his hotel room to the hospital? TMZ has more. The New York Post says he was on a cocaine-fueled rampage.

NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said no complaints were made and there was no arrest. Sheen was not expected to face any criminal charges.

Sheen got 90 days of unsupervised probation. The judgement is here. Probation ends on November 2, 2010, if there are no violations. It also states he may not use alcohol in excess or drugs except for prescription medication. He also could not violate criminal laws or ordinances except traffic infractions.

Charlie's rep says:

"What we are able to determine is that Charlie had an adverse allergic reaction to some medication and was taken to the hospital, where is expected to be released tomorrow."

Even if the DA filed a petition to revoke his probation, and he was found to have violated the terms, the judge might or might not revoke his probation. He could also continue it or extend it.

The DA's office isn't planning on commenting on the case.

Charlie Sheen and the Prosecutor's Office have been working all month at arriving at a new plea agreement in his domestic violence case from Christmas.

Given the press release sent to the media by the Pitkin County Sheriff's Office (see below), it seems Monday is the day all will be resolved.

Charlie, wisely for someone with his background, had been trying to stay off probation. He offered to do 30 days in the Pitkin County Jail in Aspen on work release as a sentnce to the misdemeanor he would be pleading guilty to. That fell apart.

Reportedly, Charlie is now willing to do probation, as he wants more parenting time with his kids and to get back to work at his TV show.[More...]

Charlie Sheen, who will plead guilty to misdemeanor assault tomorrow in Aspen, just got another benefit added on: He's going to be able to get work release during his 18 day county jail stint to teach at a local theatre and it will apply to his useful public service obligation. The jail's guidelines are here.

I still think Sheen is being treated more harshly because of his celebrity, and it seems even the D.A. doesn't disagree:

“He's really not getting anything different than the average person under similar circumstances would receive,” [D.A. Arnold] Mordkin said, “and perhaps, he's receiving a little more harsh treatment.”

Also, apparently the jail has been getting so many media inquiries as to whether it's really a jail or just a comfy country club, Sheriff Bob Braudis is holding a media conference at 4:00 pm to explain. [More...]

Actor Charlie Sheen and the Aspen DA's office have reached a plea agreement in his domestic assault case.

According to TMZ, Sheen will plead no contest to misdemeanor assault, the felony menacing charge will be dismissed and Sheen will avoid probation by serving 30 days in the Pitkin County Jail.

With good time, Sheen will serve 17 days. Smart choice by Sheen. Probation could be risky for him and this way he avoids it. The jail in Aspen is pretty nice -- as far as jails go.

He still could have lingering problems as a result of the plea, since it was charged as a domestic violence crime. I don't think it's sealable. And he's likely to be put on the national and state domestic violence dataabases, which will turn up his name even during a routine traffic stop.

Charlie Sheen and his wife Brooke Mueller appeared in court in Aspen today. Sheen was advised of his rights on a complaint (pdf) charging felony menacing and two misdemeanors, third degree assault and criminal mischief. All three counts contain a domestic violence component. The criminal mischief count pertains to Sheen's alleged breaking of two of Mueller's pairs of eyeglasses, valued together at between $500 and $1000.00.

The Judge modified the mandatory protective order so the couple can be together. Sheen is taking anger management classes, and the next court date will be the arraignment on March 15, when Sheen will have to plead guilty or not guilty. [More...]

Actor Charlie Sheen will appear in court in Aspen at 2:30 pm MT. The court docket states the matter is set for a bond appearance. Multiple media reports and a press release by Pitkin County indicate charges will be filed against him, most likely felony menacing and misdemeanor assault. His wife, Brooke Mueller, has also been ordered to appear so that the Judge can address the Sheens' request to modify the mandatory protective order preventing them from having contact.

TMZ reports a plea bargain may be in the works, but it won't happen tomorrow. My thoughts on what the plea bargain would entail are here.

In Los Angeles, Dr. Conrad Murray, the Houston physician present with Michael Jackson when he died, will appear in court at 1:30 pm PT. The DA's office is expected to file a charge of involuntary manslaughter against him. [More...]

Updated: From an email press release from the Aspen Sheriff's on Charlie Sheen, it looks like charges will be filed against him, one of which seems likely to be a felony. The press release mentions the two felony charges and misdemeanor he was arrested for, but stops short of saying whether all or some of those will be the actual charges filed. Previously, the DA said he wouldn't decide whether to charge him until shortly before his Feb. 8 hearing. TMZ says he will be charged with Felony Menacing.

Prediction: When all is said and done, he'll plead to a felony under a deferred judgment and a misdemeanor. The misdemeanor plea will prevent him from getting his record sealed.

Update below:

The hearing to modify the protective order preventing Charlie Sheen and his wife from having contact was set for yesterday. Both requested permission to appear by phone, and the Judge denied it. Then Brooke Mueller's lawyer filed to continue the hearing until Friday because Brooke was undergoing oral surgery. That was granted.

Brooke's oral surgery did not go well. She is in the hospital in intensive care with pneumonia and an infection from the surgery.

Sheen has been at the hospital, but not allowed to speak with her, although she knows he is there. Today, the Judge signed an order allowing them to have contact while she is in the hospital.

Sheen's lawyer has now filed a motion to continue Friday's hearing which will be addressed tomorrow. Our prior coverage is here.
